Long time no see?

Here comes the sun......
To be honest - I've been tired of everything called camera .. and it's been winter
I hate winter. I'm a sunshine-girl!

But now...
Spring is here.
Maybe I will get inspired again?

Awesome beauty!! Sat 30-Apr-2005 05:18

From Floby Arboretum, Skaraborg, Sweden

an old gate..
the entrance to the arboretum

This arboretum is a one mans work.
He was an addicted..very intelligent but addicted to his collecting. His wife and ten kids sometimes had to starve as he had bought plants and seed for his money.
His goal was to get one spice of each tree and bush from the northern half of earth.. and during his lifetime he collected about 350 different types. Today there is just 200 left,
He also collected stones.. "funny, interesting stones" Stones works as heatcollectors.. during a sunny day they warm up, and during long nights they give the heat away and makes a better climate for rare trees.
He had a wife and ten kids.. and they lived in this little house.. but HE slept under a tree in the arboretum, wrapped in a blanket, until it became too cold to sleep outside!
His name? Gegerfeldt.. born in 1870- died in 1950?something..88 years old. All his life he only slept one hour per night.. Well, it doesn´t seem to make life shorter anyway?

The shadows in these shots are SPLENDID!!! Very nice job on all... Fri 13-Aug-2004 23:32

I see that 'hidden europe magazine' say they are having an article on Floby in their next issue, which I guess must be due out in the next couple of weeks. There doesn't seem to be much on the Alphem Arboretum in English, so this will be a useful addition. They are on http://www.hiddeneurope.co.uk Wed 14-Jun-2006 08:07

fishing crayfish...

a swedish tradition
the first harvest
an angry crayfish- and who should´nt be? The boiling pot next!!
View all 7 photos...
Fishing crayfish- an old tradition i Sweden.
It´s mostly done under a full moon in August, with a lot of strong liquids inside to "keep the warm".. but this event is done for families living a special block of flats and therefor under sunlight, and with served hotdogs and potatoe-sallad on the other side of the small river...
One can´t be sure to get any crayfishes...

What we eat of the crayfish?
The meat in the claws.. and in the "tail".. just like a hobster or a shrimp...

I have eaten these....and they are delicious!!! great shots... Sun 8-Aug-2004 21:48

Mrs Wilmot´s ghost.
This thistle is called silvermarton or Mrs Wilmots ghost.
The story tells us that she was an addicted gardener and,
during visiting others gardens, she used to drop some seeds from this thistle..
It's a beautiful thistle.. but almost imposible to get rid of
and with very very sharp thorns

What a beautiful set......silvermarton is really beautiful...never have seen it before. Love the "gift", too! Thu 5-Aug-2004 23:12
